MAC Age Group adds more State Qualifiers

Mesa Aquatics Club flexed its muscle with numerous first place finishes at this past weekend’s MAC hosted Eastern Regional Championships.  Congrats to four more State Qualifiers:  Kyle Gunzy, Wesley Hendricks,  Misa Letterman, and Abbey Zajdinski .  These four will join a field of 21 total MAC Age Group swimmers at the Arizona State Championships this weekend!

Other notable regional news, beside the fact that MAC put on a great meet and had great volunteers and many, many compliments from visiting teams, we also had some 13-14 girls relays made up of swimmers from Coach Glen’s, Coach Mike’s and Coach Steve’s groups, combined, that received several first places.  The girls worked well together and came close to some sectional times. The 13-14 girl’s 200 freestyle relay of Madi Carioty, Sami Guttmacher, Brianna Kidney and Makenna Schmidgall swam to a 1^st place finish with a time of 1:59.46, barely missing the Sectional time of 1:59.29.  Look for more fast times in the relays this weekend as these four girls, plus Bailey Finkelstein, swim on relays and bid farewell to Age Group States.  All 5 girls will age out of Age Group in the coming months.  Another state qualifier, Ross McDonnell, will be aging up as well.  Look for these athletes as they represent 5 different high schools this fall!
